Are there any concerns with using braces or Invisalign later in life?
The only thing to keep in mind is that the process might take a little longer or require a bit more corrective treatment. This is because adult’s bones are no longer growing. For the most part, the process remains the same, as do the end results - a straighter smile you can be proud of.
How do you know whether traditional braces or Invisalign is best for you?
For patients with teeth that are simply misaligned, spaced, or turned slightly, Invisalign is the preferred choice. Although most times people also prefer the almost invisible option of Invisalign, depending on your oral conditions and types of problems, braces can sometimes be the better choice. This can be very true in the case of severely rotated teeth, dramatic overbites, or when correcting teeth at different heights. The costs of both treatments are similar in the short term, but considering braces require long-term care and lifelong use of retainers, the overall costs can add up.
Are there other, faster corrective options?
If a quick fix is needed and the problem is mainly spacing between teeth, then our team can sometimes apply dental veneers, even giving your teeth a whiter look. This process can be done in a matter of hours. However, keep in mind that veneers normally need to be replaced every ten years. Unfortunately, more excessive alignment problems and overbites cannot be corrected using veneers.
No matter your age, if you are concerned about the condition of your teeth, speak with your dentist in Cambridge, MA or one of our oral-healthcare professionals. They will give you expert advice on which teeth-straightening method would be best in your specific case.
